Great idea - I have created a Destroyed Dams type where the date and method of destruction can be noted.  For this I created a further type, Dam Destruction Method.

I hope you can make use of these new types, and add topics to them.  Thanks for joining and contributing to the Dams base.

Actually, I've just added all the topics currently existing in your type to the destroyed dams type.  Your failed dams type still exists, it is up to you if you wish to delete your type.

A big modification to the way the schema works:

I realised that quite often dams are not totally destroyed when the fail.  Also most of the failed dams are patched up and are operational shortly afterwards.  It is possible for a dam to fail (and be patched up) multiple times.

This led me to rename the 'Destroyed Dams' type as 'Dam Failure' and change it to a CVT.

The 'Dam' type now has a property called 'failures' which allows multiple Dam Failures to be listed.

As a Dam is also a structure it made sense to co-type it with the 'structure' type from the architecture domain.  Amongst other things this allows the opening date and destruction date to be noted. (so if a failure did permanently destroy the dam, then the date can be noted here).
